I’m sad

notification and dashboard when approver is member of group

Hi,
when I'm assigned as approver of a page not directly but as member of a group that is assingned as approver I don't get an e-mail notification (I built in an explicit trigger to do this now so that works) and, what's worse, the approval "task" doesn't show in the wokflow-report macro:
{workflowreport:type=dashboard}

why is that and is there an option to make it visible there?

    Hi Jonathan,

    When you just specify users or groups in the user or group parameter in an approval without an "&" in front of it, it is not assigning the approval, but rather restricting who can approve the approval to those specific users.

    If you want to assign the approval to every member in the group, add an "&" in front of the group name. Keep in mind that this means every user in the group will need to approve the approval before it will be considered approved.

    We are considering improvements to simplify the approval assignments and parameters, however we are still trying to figure out how to best move forward to improve the feature, while still maintaining backwards compatibility as well as all existing functionality. If you know which user in the group will be approving the approval, you could use selectedapprover instead so the approval can be assigned to that individual, however if it doesn't matter which user approves the approval, just that they are part of that group, there is no workaround to have it appear in the dashboard report.

    Thanks,
    Miguel

  • hi,

    ok, now I understand why this works differently.
    what we would need is an assignment where I can specify if only one of the assigned needs to give his approval or all. this would be needed mainly because of approvers that are on vacation or sick so a replacement approver can do the approval in those urgent situations.
